Ben Glenn has ADHD and dyslexia. He was the kid who was bright in conversation and hopeless on paper. He is not reporting on the research. He is the case study who grew up.
The turn
An eighty-year-old man with a box of chalk.
Ben was at a small church camp when he watched a chalk artist named Bill Leach work. Leach was eighty. He stood at a board and built an entire landscape in front of a room full of people while he talked.
Ben had spent his whole education being told what he could not do. That afternoon he watched a man do something with his hands that held a room completely still, and decided that was the job.
He has been doing it professionally since 1995.

Ben trained to be a teacher. He knows what a Sunday night feels like, what a rewritten lesson plan costs, and what it takes to keep believing in a kid whose file says otherwise.
